The Republic

Socrates is on his way to the city when he is stopped by a group of men. He is persuaded (forced?) not to continue his journey to the city and instead stays with the men. Socrates then goes on to discuss the meaning of justice. One man has heard it defined as paying your debts to your friends and returning evil to your enemies.

Socrates argues that to do bad to anyone, friend or foe, is no justice at all.
